Health Emergency Closure

Due to the ongoing public health emergency The Past Restored office will be closed to the public. This is to comply with local and federal health recommendations to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This will not impact our customer experience as we are still offering mobile service. When interacting with our customers all precautions will be taken to ensure everyone’s health, including the wearing of a mask and temperature checking staff.

We are located in Shelby, Richland County, Ohio, and primarily serve Richland County and surrounding counties. We will consider traveling to other areas in Ohio depending on the scope of the project.

Yes, that is the preferred method for accepting your items. We will come to your house or place of business and pick up items for digitization. We will then return the items and digitized work to you. 

Yes, our scanning equipment is portable so we can scan anywhere. Using an overhead scanner, we can scan most images without putting them on glass or other scanning devices that might harm the items. We use cotton gloves to handle the most fragile items.

We can scan books and documents up to 11.7 inches by 16.5 inches and 3 inches in thickness. 

Yes, using our overhead scanner, we can scan photo albums without removing the photos, then separate the images into files. 

If requested, we can correct faded, sepia-toned black and white images,  color correct images from older color photos and slides, and restore scratches, mildew, folds and other blemishes. 

That depends on the service requested. Most services will have a 3-5 business day turnaround. Larger projects will be quoted case by case.

Yes, we discuss file naming conventions when placing the order. 

Items are typically scanned as JPEG unless you request a different file format. Other formats include PDF, editable Word and TIFF.

Finished products are provided to customers on flash drives or, for larger projects, external hard drives. For individual customers wishing to share photos with friends and family, photos can be uploaded to a personal account created on Flickr.
